City of Salford : Britain Salford is a metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester in north-west England. Its main town is Salford. Other places include Swinton, Eccles, Pendlebury, Broughton, Pendleton, Worsley, Walkden, Irlam, Cadishead, Wardley, Monton, Barton and Boothstown. The city is divided into five districts: Salford, Eccles, Worsley, Irlam & Cadishead, and Swinton & Pendlebury. It has a university by the side of the River Irwell called The University of Salford.
