The Bois de Boulogne is supposedly modelled on London’s Hyde Park, though it is a very French Interpretation. It offers all sorts of facilities : The Jardin d’Acclimatation, with lots of attractions for kids, the Parc de Bagatelle M Port-de-Neuilly, then bus#43 or M Porte-Maillot, then bus#244, which features beautiful displays of tulips, hyacinths and daffodils in the first half of April, Irises in May, water lilies and roses at the end of June, a riding school, bike rental at the entrance to the Jardin d’Acclimatation, boating on the Lac Inferieur, and race courses at Longchamp and Auteuil. The best and wildest part for walking is towards the southern corner.

The 865 hectares Bois de Boulogne lies on the western edge of Paris and was created under Napoléon III (second part of the 19th century). Its designer, the Baron Haussman, was an admirer of the large and central London parks (such as the beautiful Hyde Park and Regent Park). He decided to create two similar parks in Paris.
They are respectively the Bois de Boulogne on the west side of Paris and the Bois de Vincennes on the east. The Bois de Boulogne, the most fashionable of the two, is bordered by the very residential cities of Neuilly and Boulogne.

Geography
In the vicinity there are mineral springs, and the sea-bathing also attracts many visitors in summer. The chief local industries are tanning and the manufacture of petroleum drums. The opening, in 1895, of the railway to Bucharest, which crosses the Danube by a bridge at Cernavod?, brought Constan?a a considerable transit trade in grain and petroleum, which are largely exported; coal and coke head the list of imports, followed by machinery, iron goods, and cotton and woollen fabrics.
