Raheny (Rth anna in Irish) is a quiet northern suburb of Dublin, the capital city of the Republic of Ireland. It is situated on the coast of County Dublin, about 8 km from the city centre. Nearby areas include Kilbarrack, Clontarf, Donaghmede, and Howth. Raheny has a station on the DART suburban railway syatem, a beach at Dollymount, and an extensive park at St Anne’s (formerly the home of the Guinness brewing family).

At the heart of Raheny lies the old settlement (today known as “The Village”) of Rth anna: the ringfort of Eanna, a local chief.

Local amenities include a small shopping centre, numerous public houses, and several sports clubs, including the noted Raheny GAA club and Raheny United, a local soccer club.

The neighbourhood has a boy’s secondary school, St Paul’s College (attended by approximately 600 pupils) and a girl’s school, Manor House.

The “Raheny News”, a four page bulletin, printed on distinctive green paper, and aimed at keeping residents of Raheny informed of current happenings in the area, is produced weekly throughout most of the year by a group of local people.

Fethard (Irish: Fiodh Ard) is a town in County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland not far from Cashel, south of the midlands of Ireland. The town is particularly remarkable for having been heavily fortified and completely surrounded by town walls, which can still be seen today. Knockelly Castle, a well fortified tower house is one of many historical buildings in the area. Fethard-on-Sea is also the name of a coastal village in County Wexford, Republic of Ireland, on the Hook peninsula.
