Slane (Baile Shline in Irish) is an ancient town on the River Boyne in County Meath, Ireland. A local historic site, as the Hill of Slane, the area includes Slane Castle which in recent years has held many pop concerts most notably U2.
In Irish mythology, Slane was a well blessed by Dian Cecht so that the Tuatha D Danann could bathe in it and be healed.
