Larvik : Norway

Larvik is a municipality in the county of Vestfold, Norway. The municipality covers an area of 530 km. The district also includes the villages Stavern, Nevlunghavn, Helgeroa, Kvelde, Hvarnes and Tjlling. Other noteable places is the lake Farris and the river Numedalslgen, locally called Lgen, wich terminates in the fjord of Larvik. A source of fresh water located below the city’s beech tree forest also bears the name Farris.

Larvik has a daily ferry connection to Frederikshavn in Denmark.

Larvik houses the Treschow estate which is currently owned by Mille-Marie Treschow, the richest woman in Norway.

The world’s most northern natural occurrence of beech trees (Fagus sylvatica) in Bkeskogen (Beech Tree Forest).

Mosjøen is the centre of the municipality of Vefsn in Norway. 9560 inhabitants (2001). The town is situated where the rivers Skjerva and Vefsna flows into the Vefsn fjord.
