Caracal : Romania

Caracal (population: 34,603) is a city in the Olt county, Romania, situated in the plains between the lower reaches of the Jiu and Olt.

In the city there are the ruins of a tower, built in 217 by the Roman emperor Caracalla, after whom the place is named.
