Strehaia is a town in Mehedin?i county, Romania.
The Monastery of Strehaia was built by Matei Basarab in 1645. Since 1671, in the city was organized a cattle fair, which helped the town to develop.
The town has a population of 12,560, of which an important part are Gypsies (Rroma).
