Vaslui (population: 70,000) is a city in Vaslui county, Romania.
History
First appearance of the city of Vaslui is in 1435, when Ilies becomes a voivode of Moldavia. In 1439 and 1440 the tatars invaded Moldavia and the city was burnt.

History
Hu?i is an episcopal see. The cathedral was built in 1491 by ?tefan cel Mare of Moldavia. The city is said to have been founded in the 15th century by a colony of Hussites led by Jan Huss, from whom its name is derived. The Treaty of the Pruth between Russia and Turkey was signed here in 1711.

At Bārlad the railway from Ia?i diverges, one branch skirting the river Siret, the other skirting the Pruth; both reunite at Gala?i. Among a maze of narrow and winding streets Bārlad possesses a few good modern buildings, including a fine hospital, administered by the St Spiridion Foundation of Iasi.
In the vicinity of the cities there are traces of a Roman camp.
